Steep Holm trip - 5th July 2012

Here are a selection of photos taken on the last trip to Steep Holm.  This was the 3rd trip this year with 10 trips now cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions.

Hopefully, the weather will improve and the remaining trips will go ahead as planned.  While the island has been left in peace the peregrines have been busy with some 80+ gull carcasses found.  During the day of this visit, a peregrine could be seen circling the sky, its chick nestled safely on a small ledge.

Approaching the island on the Cardiff Sea Safaris RIB.

A good example of Honeycomb worms (Sabellaria alveolata)
One of the island's many Lackey moth caterpillars

The wonderful Henbane flowers grace the island at this time of year.

Steep Holm's resident seal says 'Hello'.....

Many thanks to Tabetha Newman and Emma Smith for the great photos.
