Kenneth Allsop Memorial Trust: The Kenneth Allsop Memorial Trust was formed to perpetuate the memory of a remarkable pioneer journalist and conservationist who died in 1973. The Trust was able to buy Steep Holm by public subscription in 1976. It is a registered charity (no. 270059) that seeks to preserve and enhance the island’s natural beauty and landscape, together with its antiquities, wildlife and scientific interest, for everyone to enjoy. The Trust’s President is Simon King OBE, the wildlife filmmaker, television presenter and enthusiastic promoter of nature conservation and natural history. Membership of the Trust is open and new members can be actively involved in the care of Steep Holm or just quietly supportive. There is the benefit of reduced boat fares for visits and a thrice yearly newsletter as well as the opportunity to attend the Annual General Meeting and lunch which is held at a Weston-super-Mare seafront hotel in late summer.
